Martin Freeman as Biblo Baggins |
In this trailer, we can get a glimpse of many new and exciting
things. New things are bountiful, such as a return of the Lothlorean elf Legolas
(Orlando Bloom) from the original Trilogy, a new she elf, and the king elf,
which a band of dwarves lead by (Richard Armitage), a hobbit (Martin Freeman),
and a wizard (Ian Mckellen) cross paths with. Yes a lot of new supporting elves,
but there is also a glimpse of the dragon Smaug, which is played by Star Trek Into Darkness’ Benedict
Cumberbatch, although you may also recognize him from the latest (and greatest
in my eyes) Sherlock series.
The trailer shows us recognizable faces from the first
installment, as well as many beautiful landscapes and battle scenes. It looks
to be quite the follow-up to An
Unexpected Journeys’ slow-beginnings. But it may have only been slow due to
the tremendously large proportions of the Trilogy. The Hobbit: The Desolation
of Smaug airs in theaters worldwide on December 13, 2013. You should view it as
it looks to be a beautiful journey into Peter Jackson’s world.
